I’m responsible for delaying telcos’ entry into financial services - Sanusi

Former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Muhammadu Sanusi II, admitted that delaying the entry of telecommunications companies into the financial services sector was a mistake. Although influenced by concerns over depositor safety following the banking crisis, he recognized that telecoms could have helped expand financial services to millions of Nigerians. Sanusi also emphasized that access to bank accounts does not automatically equate to increased wealth for individuals.
