Immigration: An Indian convicted of rape stripped of his American nationality for hiding his crime

A federal court stripped Gurmeet Singh, an Indian man convicted of rape and kidnapping, of his American nationality for hiding these crimes during his naturalization in 2011. Singh sexually assaulted a passenger in May 2011, just weeks before becoming a citizen. The judge ordered the return of his naturalization certificate and U.S. passport, and Singh, currently in prison, is expected to be deported to India after his sentence.
