Immigration: Several EU Countries Already Seek to Tighten the New Migration Pact – La Nouvelle Tribune

Several EU governments, including about 18 countries and the UK, plan to discuss on September 26 in Munich potential changes to the migration and asylum pact. They may request the European Commission to propose new rules by mid-2027 regarding asylum procedures, border controls, and the use of artificial intelligence. The pact, adopted in May 2024 and implemented in June 2026, already governs various aspects of migration management and includes a solidarity mechanism among member states facing migratory pressure.
