Immigration: Students and Workers Face New Challenges in This US Ally

Australia will tighten the residency conditions for foreign students and holders of working holiday visas, as announced by Interior Minister Tony Burke. Approximately 753,000 foreign students, mainly from China and India, will be affected by these new measures aimed at limiting stay extensions. Additionally, young foreigners in the working holiday program will now have to go through a lottery to obtain a second year of visa, with only 45,000 places available.
