Importation of 830,000 tonnes of PMS waste of resources - MURIC tackles NMDPRA

Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) condemned the importation of 830,000 tonnes of petrol by the Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), describing it as a waste of resources and counterproductive. NMDPRA had approved this import for the fourth quarter of 2026 despite evidence of Nigeria's petrol self-sufficiency thanks to local production, including Dangote Refinery. MURIC urged cooperation with local refineries and called for the immediate halt of refined fuel imports, deeming the move unnecessary, regressive, and unpatriotic.
