Since 1935, residents of Seehausen in Bavaria have annually maintained a lake procession for Corpus Christi, celebrated ten days after Pentecost. Dressed in traditional Bavarian costumes, worshippers, altar servers, and religious leaders board a flotilla of boats to cross Lake Staffelsee to Wörth island. To the sound of bells, hymns, and prayers, the Blessed Sacrament is carried to the island church, where the religious celebration continues with a procession and services.
