In Goma, markets lack latrines and handwashing facilities

Several public markets in Goma, North Kivu, lack latrines and handwashing facilities, hindering Ebola prevention efforts. During World Cleanup Day on September 19, environmental groups cleaned the Ki30 market in Majengo and raised awareness among traders about barrier measures. Rachel Mululu, president of Fudei, called on authorities and humanitarian organizations to improve sanitation facilities in these markets. The organizations are requesting the construction of latrines and installation of handwashing stations, emphasizing the need for involvement from local authorities and communities.
