A new platform, the Citizen Alliance for the Homeland, was launched in Kinshasa on August 31, 2026, aiming to unify civil society forces in the DRC against the risk of balkanization. Carbone Beni, the platform's coordinator, emphasized the need to change methods to gather those fighting against poor governance. Co-founder Jean-Jacques Lumumba highlighted internal corruption as the true threat to the DRC, referencing the famous phrase by Etienne Tshisekedi.
