In Mali, Russia claims to have thwarted a coup: Ukrainian and European mercenaries cited

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it thwarted a coup attempt in Mali involving between 10,000 and 12,000 rebels, supported by Ukrainian and European mercenaries. Fighting occurred in several cities, including Bamako, where the presidential palace was targeted. The African Corps claimed to have neutralized over 1,000 assailants, although Russian soldiers were also injured during the clashes.
