In Response to Moroccan Advances, Polisario Meets in Spain to Prepare Its Counterattack

The Sahrawi Working Group on natural resources and legal issues met on September 23 in Madrid at the Polisario Mission headquarters to review their activities, including legal procedures in Europe. This meeting occurs amid a shift in the Western Sahara conflict following UN Security Council resolution 2797, adopted in October 2025, which favors the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco over the referendum option supported by the Polisario and Algeria. The Sahrawi delegation has strengthened its legal strategy in response to this new geopolitical landscape.
