In Tanzania, the sea is moving inland and taking livelihoods with it

Tanzanian farmer Buga Steven reports that rising sea levels have reduced his coconut harvest to less than a third of what it used to be. Saltwater has invaded agricultural lands along the Pangani River, affecting coconut tree health and diminishing family incomes. Mangroves, protected by Tanzanian law, are increasingly colonizing areas that were once cultivated, leaving farmers in a challenging situation.
