In Venezuela, the Dancing Devils revive a centuries-old Corpus Christi rite

Dressed in colorful costumes and handmade masks, parishioners in Tarmas, Venezuela, paraded dancing through the streets for the Corpus Christi festival. Children received their first communion after a year of religious preparation. The ritual combines Catholic devotion with local customs, featuring masked devils who ultimately submit to the Holy Sacrament, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. This tradition was recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage in 2012.
