Independence Day: Nigeria moving from economic stabilisation to growth — Yilwatda

Nentawe Yilwatda, the national chairman of the APC, stated that Nigeria is moving towards becoming a stronger and more prosperous nation despite economic challenges. He noted that President Bola Tinubu's administration inherited a difficult economic situation and implemented reforms such as removing fuel subsidies, foreign exchange reforms, and efforts to boost domestic revenue. He highlighted that Nigeria's real GDP grew by 4.2% in the first half of 2026 and foreign reserves reached $51.9 billion by July, signaling macroeconomic stabilization. Yilwatda emphasized the importance of translating these economic gains into higher household incomes, employment, food security, and greater opportunities for Nigerians.
