Independence Day: The Palace relocates the grand parade outside Dakar again

Senegal's President Bassirou Diomaye Faye announced during the October 13, 2026, Council of Ministers that the Independence Day parade will be held in Kaolack on April 4, 2029, instead of Dakar. He aims to use this event to accelerate infrastructure development and boost the local economy through a 'Special Independence Program' overseen by the Prime Minister. A quarterly reporting mechanism will be established to monitor project progress in the region. The goal is to turn this celebration into a development catalyst for Kaolack.
