India to supply Nepal electricity after floods wrecked hydropower projects

India has approved the expedited export of electricity to Nepal to help it overcome shortages caused by devastating floods. Up to 654 megawatts of electricity will be transmitted for 18 hours per day until December 31. The flooding, triggered by a glacial mountain collapse on the China-Nepal border, killed over 1,400 people and damaged at least 12 hydropower projects in Nepal.
