Indonesian president’s chief of staff dismissed over alleged wiretapping

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto dismissed his chief of staff, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, on Wednesday, a day after his arrest over alleged phone surveillance of several high-profile people, including the president and cabinet ministers. Two other senior police officers were also arrested, including police legal division head Ahrie Sonta Nasution. The alleged wiretapping was conducted without legal authority from last year through this year, while Listyo led the National Police, and suspects are accused of ordering intercepted files deleted. The presidential spokesperson said the acts could amount to treason, while the motive remains undetermined.
