Industrial Safety: MCIA Strengthens 100 SMEs’ Fire-Preparedness

From October 19 to 23, 2026, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Crafts is training 100 SMEs in fire prevention and response. The initiative comes as 56% of businesses inspected in the Autonomous District of Abidjan fall short of safety requirements, while Côte d’Ivoire’s civil protection office recorded 2,049 fires nationwide in 2025. Participants receive theoretical and practical instruction in identifying risks, prevention measures and emergency procedures, including a practical exercise at a business in Yopougon’s industrial zone. Led by the Directorate General of Industry with the DAICE program, the training follows a first edition that trained 50 SMEs in 2025.
