Infinite escape in Inongo: about thirty inmates escape from Iyombe prison, material damages reported

About thirty inmates escaped from Iyombe prison in Inongo by breaking the central door, amid a security situation that has been deteriorating for over a decade. The interim prison director, Puis Biakompolo, reports that 31 prisoners escaped while 7 remained, following the withdrawal of security forces after being ordered to leave. The prison, built in 1928, is in a state of severe disrepair with cracked walls, a partially collapsed roof, no functioning courtroom, and no police guard posts. Previous escapes in June and August highlight the ongoing deterioration of the facility.
