In June 2026, inflation in Senegal rose only 0.4% year-on-year, according to the National Agency of Statistics and Demography (ANSD). This performance is mainly due to an 8.3% drop in electricity prices, which offset increases in food and services. The housing, water, electricity, gas category fell by 2.3% month-on-month. Electricity, which permeates the entire economy, played a decisive role in keeping inflation under control.
