The Osun State police command denied arresting any banditry suspects, contrary to misleading social media videos. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan stated that those arrested in Osogbo and Imesi-Ile were not bandits. In Osogbo, a 38-year-old man named Adebayo Sunday was apprehended but exhibited signs of mental instability and was referred to a psychiatric hospital. In Imesi-Ile, three herdsmen, Abdullahi Umaru, Usman Bello, and Umaru Aliyu, were arrested for malicious damage to farmland, not banditry, and had lived peacefully in the community for over twenty years.
