Insecurity, poverty undermine decent work - Gov Namadi

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State identified insecurity and poverty as persistent obstacles to achieving decent work during the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration. He emphasized that these issues are connected to the daily realities of workers and require deliberate policies. His 12-point development agenda aims to address these challenges, focusing on agriculture, infrastructure, and social protection. Sunusi Alhassan, chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Jigawa, acknowledged the government's efforts to improve workers' welfare.
