Iran-Gulf: Cameroon’s trade deficit decreases to 156.7 billion FCFA, but energy dependence remains

Cameroon recorded a trade deficit of 156.7 billion FCFA in 2024 in its exchanges with Iran and several Gulf states, an improvement from 231.58 billion the previous year. Imports from this region reached 182.7 billion FCFA, accounting for 3.7% of the country's total imports. Despite this decrease, Cameroon’s dependence on imported hydrocarbons remains a concern.
