Iran’s Revolutionary Guards threatened on Thursday to strike US bases across the Middle East if the US military continues escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he was “not surprised” by the news. The arrest comes as Germany raised its threat level for Russian sabotage to “significant,” following discoveries of explosives-laden drones near military facilities and Leipzig/Halle Airport.
