Iraq faces sovereignty test as US-led military coalition exit nears

The US-led international military coalition will conclude its mission in Iraq by the end of September, confirmed Lieutenant General Abdul Amir al-Shammari. This decision follows a 2024 agreement between Baghdad and Washington, which includes the withdrawal of US air defense systems stationed in Erbil. Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi stated that September 30 will mark the end of the military mission of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS in Iraq.
