IS claims responsibility for Nigeria attack that killed 29 people

Gunmen killed at least 29 people in an attack on a village in Adamawa state, north-eastern Nigeria. The Islamic State group (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred at a football pitch where people had gathered. State governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri described the attack as an 'affront to our humanity' and announced the intensification of security operations in the area, where the atmosphere remains tense.
