Israel: Arab parties join opposition to oust Netanyahu

After Israel’s October 27 election, President Isaac Herzog is due to announce on Sunday whom he will task with forming a government. Gadi Eisenkot, a former army chief and opposition figure, received recommendations from 67 lawmakers, compared with 46 for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu; seven lawmakers abstained. Neither candidate has a majority, and Herzog cited mutual vetoes between and within the political blocs as he prepares to meet party leaders individually.
