Israel claims control of Lebanon’s key Ali al-Taher ridge: What that means

Israel has claimed to have established operational control over the strategically vital Ali al-Taher ridge following an extended operation against the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah. Defence Minister Israel Katz stated that Israeli forces had driven Hezbollah fighters out of a network of tunnels beneath the contested highland. Israel has escalated the conflict with Hezbollah since October 2023, aiming to create a security zone in southern Lebanon.
