Israeli military detains Egyptian national who crossed border

Israel’s military said it detained an Egyptian civilian overnight after he crossed the border fence from Egyptian territory into Israel near Nitzana. He was transferred to security forces for questioning; the military did not disclose his identity or motive. Kan 11 reported that surveillance detected the crossing and troops were sent to arrest him. The incident is under investigation amid heightened alert along the border, where smuggling has previously taken place.
