Israel’s president pardons soldier who killed wounded Palestinian in 2016

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has expunged the criminal record of Elor Azaria, a former soldier convicted of killing a wounded Palestinian in Hebron in 2016. Despite opposition from the army chief of staff, Herzog justified his decision based on the passage of time and Azaria having served his sentence. Azaria was filmed shooting Abdel Fattah al-Sharif, who was already on the ground after injuring a soldier.
