It Makes No Sense to Compare Ghana’s Movie Industry to Nigeria’s, Says Majid Michel

Ghanaian actor Majid Michel said it was unfair to compare Ghana’s movie industry with Nigeria’s Nollywood in a recent interview with Y1079 FM Accra. He noted that Ghana has fewer than 40 million people, while Nigeria has more than 200 million, arguing that the population gap helps explain why Nigeria may have more actors and filmmakers. Michel called the comparison “stupid” and said Ghana also cannot fairly be measured against countries with governance systems established over centuries.
