Electricity: META Energy solar kits are estimated to cost 18% more than Socadel

Cameroonian company META Energy estimates the cost of its solar electricity offer at 133 CFA francs per kWh, about 18% above Socadel’s comparable residential rate; Socadel was formerly known as Eneo. The estimate is based on commercial terms presented in Yaoundé on October 27, 2026, when META Energy launched its operations in partnership with Canada’s Eclipse Énergies Renouvelables. The most powerful residential package requires an upfront payment of 499,900 CFA francs followed by monthly payments of 49,900 CFA francs for ten years, totaling 6.49 million CFA francs before ownership of the installation transfers to the customer. The calculation assumes the system supplies, and the customer uses, all 13.4 kWh advertised each day, including 9.2 kWh at night.
