Itombwe: two dead and one missing in an ambush in Bikyaka

On September 9, 2026, two members of a convoy of 10 people traveling from Maheta to Lubumba via Bikyaka were killed in an ambush by armed men. The victims included Mchakuzi, a 29-year-old man, and another young man, the son of Mr. Sukali. A woman is also reported missing since the incident. The local Youth Council of Itombwe is calling for the securing of roads and the protection of civilians in the area.
