‘It's unconstitutional’ - Lawyer slams Tinubu, Shettima over absence from Nigeria

Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong criticized President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their simultaneous absence from Nigeria, calling it a 'brazen violation' of the 1999 Constitution. Effiong emphasized that Section 145 of the Constitution requires presidential authority to be formally transferred when the President is on vacation or unable to perform his duties. Tinubu has been abroad since August 30, while Shettima left Abuja on September 20 to represent Nigeria at the United Nations General Assembly.
