Since Monday, July 13, 2026, health workers at the Ebola Treatment Center (ETC) of the Rwampara General Referral Hospital in Bunia have hardened their strike, burning tires and abandoning patients. They protest the non-payment of salaries and bonuses promised by the Minister of Public Health since the epidemic began on May 15, 2026. The strikers also demand better working conditions, including appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). This social crisis risks causing widespread contagion in the health zones of Ituri.
