Ituri NGOs denounce forced recruitment of more than 750 young people by CRP militia in Djugu

Human rights activists in Djugu, Ituri, accuse the Convention for the Popular Revolution (CRP) militia of forcibly recruiting at least 750 people, including many children, from displaced people at the Savo plain site over the past two months. The recruits are reportedly taken to Lenga village for military training, and the campaign is said to have spread to several villages in the N’Gle groupement in the Bule area. Benjamin Ngabu said the recruitment and use of children by armed groups are prohibited under Congolese law and international instruments, including UN Security Council Resolution 1612. The activists are urging the authorities to act swiftly.

He described the episode as a regrettable administrative misjudgment and raised concerns about professional titles conferred outside the established legal framework. A legal practitioner for more than 41 years, he reaffirmed his commitment to the law, professional ethics and the integrity of the legal profession.
