Ivory Coast: 60% of the coastline eroded, Pr Hauhouot warns of serious consequences

According to Pr Hauhouot Asseypo Célestin, 60% of the 566 kilometers of Ivory Coast's coastline is affected by coastal erosion, threatening beaches, infrastructure, and populations. His diagnosis, based on over twenty years of observation, reveals critical areas, particularly between Port-Bouët and Grand-Bassam, where erosion reaches -2.19 m/year. The sediment deficit, caused by dams and sand extraction, along with climate change, exacerbates this situation.
