Cashew shells in Ivory Coast, long regarded as a by-product, could become a new source of industrial value through a project by Essar Biofuels. An investment of $75 million aims to transform these shells into Cardanol, a raw material for various industrial applications. A memorandum of understanding was signed on September 11, 2026, between Essar Biofuels, CCAK, and CEPICI to facilitate the project's implementation.
