Former Congolese president Joseph Kabila officially took leadership of the Front for the Rebirth of the Nation (FRN), announced on October 12 in Goma, replacing the dissolved AFC/M23. Former leaders Corneille Nangaa and Bertrand Bisimwa now serve as vice-presidents of the FRN. The movement claims to act under Article 64 of the Constitution to challenge President Félix Tshisekedi's government, leading several of Kabila's associates to resign in protest against this new political direction.
