Judge dismisses charges against FBI agents involved in Hunter Biden case

Federal Judge Zia Faruqui dismissed the case against former senior FBI officials Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides, who were accused of lying to Congress in 2023 about their knowledge of an investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop. He said prosecutors lacked sufficient evidence and criticized the investigation as rushed, overtly political and marked by “critical mistakes”. Faruqui also pointed to the case’s proximity to the midterm elections and called it weaponization. The Justice Department may still seek a grand jury indictment.
