Judicial appointments: 'Here is how they are preparing the exclusion of Ousmane Sonko in 2029'

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has appointed Ousmane Diagne as president of the Constitutional Council and Serigne Bassirou Guèye as Advocate General at the Court of Appeal of Saint-Louis. According to political scientist Mamadou Wane, these appointments aim to prevent Ousmane Sonko from running in the 2029 presidential election by using the judiciary. Both magistrates have had open conflicts with Sonko, notably over the slow pace of accountability and mutual accusations.
