June 12: Fubara reaffirms commitment to democracy, national unity

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara reaffirmed that democracy remains the most suitable system of government for Nigeria due to its ethnic, religious and cultural diversity. In his Democracy Day message, he paid tribute to Chief MKO Abiola, Kudirat Abiola and other heroes of the democratic struggle. Fubara noted that despite challenges, the resilience of institutions and the determination of the people have kept the nation moving forward. He also commended President Bola Tinubu's commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda and reiterated Rivers State's readiness to partner with the federal government.

Governor Yusuf reshuffles special advisers in major Kano government reorganisation

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved a major reshuffle of his special advisers, scrapping the positions of Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs and Special Adviser on Liaison Offices in Abuja. Habiba Mustapha Barwa, formerly Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs, was reassigned as Special Adviser on Special Duties (Women), and Umar Uba Akawu moved to Political Affairs. Other transfers include Akibu Isa Murtala to Human Resources and Ibrahim Adam to Social Media. New appointees include Bello Nuhu Bello as Special Adviser on Administration, Ahmed Muhammad Aruwa as Publicity, and Buhari Sule Kura for NGOs. Six additional advisers will be announced after the governor's return.
