Justice General Assizes: “I cannot implement a report that has not been approved” (Guillaume Ngefa)

Congolese Justice Minister of State Guillaume Ngefa said the final report from the Justice General Assizes held under his predecessor, Constant Mutamba Tungunga, was never approved after being contested and rejected. Ngefa said any new assizes should reflect changing circumstances and challenges such as transitional justice, International Criminal Court rulings, and developments in case law.

Lulengwa says her ministry was never notified of any payments, has no bank account in its name, and received none of the funds in question. Kwango civil society is calling for investigations to trace the money and establish any potential responsibility.

‘Learn from Macron’: ADC criticises Tinubu over Nigerians’ hardship

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it called a lack of empathy toward Nigerians facing insecurity, hunger and economic hardship. It urged him to follow French President Emmanuel Macron’s example after reports that Macron postponed a planned state visit to Nigeria on October 28–29, 2026, until early 2027 because of domestic challenges in France. The council cited attacks, abductions and community displacement across several states, and raised reports that more than 60 young people were detained in inhumane conditions in Niger State, with over 37 said to have died in custody. It called for urgent action, accountability and justice for affected families, alongside stronger protection for Nigerians and measures to ease economic hardship.
