Justice Onum’s Death Is a Profound Loss to Benue and Nigeria, Tinubu Says

President Bola Tinubu paid tribute to former Benue State Chief Judge Adam Ochume Onum, who died at 73, and offered condolences to his wife Vivien, family, the judiciary, the Nigerian Bar Association and the Idoma people. Onum served as a magistrate, a member of the Benue State House of Assembly, a lawyer, and the state’s Solicitor-General, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice from 1988 to 1991. Appointed to the Benue State High Court in 1991, he later became the first person from the Idoma ethnic group to serve as the state’s Chief Judge. Tinubu praised his dedication to justice and public service and prayed for his soul to rest in peace and for strength for his loved ones.

New revelations about Babacar Ciss, the 26-year-old fraud suspect who amassed millions

Babacar Ciss, 26, is being pursued for online fraud, forgery and use of forged documents. He reportedly attributed his affluent lifestyle to cryptocurrency earnings, including Bitcoin, and claimed to have lived in the United States for three years; investigators found he had never left Senegal, and he later backtracked. Searches uncovered a CBAO account-opening request, a certificate reporting the loss of a US driving permit, and transfer orders for 85 million, 75 million and 850,000 CFA francs, though the sums were reportedly never credited. Ciss does hold an account at Banque Atlantique but never had an Ecobank account, and he was brought before the Dakar prosecutor on November 6, 2026.

Thomas Markle, father of the Duchess of Sussex, appeared in court after being charged in the United States with possessing images of child sexual abuse. The FBI arrested him in Florida after searching two Los Angeles-area storage units he had rented since 2008, seizing about 78 items, including negatives, slides and books that agents allege contained the material. The court ordered him to remain under home detention at his Florida assisted living facility and wear electronic monitoring; no plea was entered, and an arraignment date in California will be set later. Markle, 82, has previously denied the allegations, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not commented on his arrest.
