Yassine Meriah, Tunisian defender, announced his retirement at age 33 via an Instagram story, citing chronic knee pain from a re-injury of his cruciate ligament. He mainly played for Espérance de Tunis, winning two Tunisian championships, two cups, and one supercup, and also played briefly for Club Africain. Over his career, he played 349 matches, scored 26 goals, and provided 5 assists, and served as captain of the national team, finishing fourth at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. He has not been called up to the national team since the 2025 AFCON.
