Kais Saied’s economic experiment has failed Tunisia

Before the January 14, 2011 revolution, Tunisia faced serious economic and social imbalances, despite a cohesive administration and an average growth rate of 4% in the previous decade. The revolution brought political pluralism and freedom of expression, but was not accompanied by an economic transformation. Between 2011 and 2021, economic growth halved, exacerbating inequalities and frustrations among the population.
