Kalu urges WTO action on food security, investment

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu called on the WTO for concrete outcomes on food security and investment facilitation during the 57th Session of the Steering Committee of the Parliamentary Conference on the WTO in Geneva. He expressed concerns over the lack of a permanent solution for public stockholding for food security, 13 years after WTO members committed to addressing the issue. Kalu also proposed a temporary waiver for public stockholding programs and emphasized the need for greater accountability from national parliaments.
