Kanja Orders Crackdown on Unroadworthy Vehicles and Drunk Driving Ahead of Festivities

Kenya’s Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, ordered officers to step up road checks ahead of the festive season and impound unroadworthy vehicles and motorcycles. He directed police to crack down on drunk and dangerous driving, speeding and overloading, with enforcement coordinated through a multi-agency framework. Speaking at a service at the Holy Family Minor Basilica on November 7, he urged road users to take care and called for stronger security at family gatherings. The directives come as the National Transport and Safety Authority conducts day-and-night enforcement on major routes as part of its road-safety campaign.
