Kano begins screening of couples for mass wedding on Monday

The Kano State Hisbah Board announced that couples from 24 local government areas must report on Monday for medical screening as part of the mass wedding program for 3,000 couples. Screening includes HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, genotype compatibility, drug use, and pregnancy tests for female applicants. Successful couples will be cleared to participate in the state-sponsored wedding, where each groom receives N100,000 dowry support and household items. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf unveiled the plan for 1,500 men and 1,500 women, mostly widows, divorcees, orphans, and low-income residents.
