Kaylor case: New charges brought against detained influencer

Papa Saliou Ciss, known as “Kaylor,” was remanded in custody after being referred by the Urban Security service and is due to stand trial on Wednesday. Prosecutors have added spreading false news to alleged charges of defamation, unlawful collection of personal data, incitement to racial discrimination and hate speech. The case follows a complaint by El Hadji Boubacar Ba, president of the National Federation of Shopkeepers for Modernization, over videos suggesting a possible boycott of local products, including Kirène, Séo and Casamançaise water and Senegalese sugar. Kaylor acknowledges making the videos but denies the alleged intentions, saying he wanted to alert authorities to supply issues and consumer protection.
