Kayode Akinmade: Food Security, Abiodun Deepens Ogun’s Agricultural Transformation Drive

At the 2026 World Food Day celebration in Abeokuta, Governor Dapo Abiodun announced a support programme for 10,000 rice and cassava farmers in Ogun State. Farmers will receive subsidised inputs, while the government will distribute 10 tractors and 1,200 Android phones providing weather forecasts, market prices and farming advice. Beneficiaries will pay 30% of input costs, with the government covering the remaining 70% through a partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development. The initiative aims to increase production, reduce post-harvest losses and improve farmers’ incomes.
